Wealth distribution of simple exchange models coupled with extremal dynamics

چکیده
Punctuated Equilibrium (PE) states that after long periods of evolutionary quiescence, species evolution can take place in short time intervals, where sudden differentiation makes new species emerge and some species extinct. In this paper, we introduce and study the effect of punctuated equilibrium on two different asset exchangemodels: the yard sale model (YS, winner gets a random fraction of a poorer player’s wealth) and the theft and fraud model (TF, winner gets a random fraction of the loser’s wealth). The resulting wealth distribution is characterized using the Gini index. In order to do this, we consider PE as a perturbation with probability ρ of being applied. We compare the resulting values of the Gini index at different increasing values of ρ in both models. We found that in the case of the TF model, the Gini index reduces as the perturbation ρ increases, not showing dependence with the agents number. While for YS we observe a phase transition which happens around ρc = 0.79. For perturbations ρ < ρc the Gini index reaches the value of one as time increases (an extreme wealth condensation state), whereas for perturbations greater than or equal to ρc the Gini index becomes different to one, avoiding the system reaches this extreme state. We show that both simple exchange models coupled with PE dynamics ∗ Corresponding author. E-mail addresses: [email protected] (N. Bagatella-Flores), [email protected] (M. Emergent Statistical Wealth Distributions in Simple Monetary Exchange Models: A Critical Review
This paper reviews recent attempts at modelling inequality of wealth as an emergent phenomenon of interacting-agent processes. We point out that recent models of wealth condensation which draw their inspiration frommolecular dynamics have, in fact, reinvented a process introduced quite some time ago by Angle (1986) in the sociological literature. We emphasize some problematic aspects of simple ...
متن کاملStudy of a Market Model with Conservative Exchanges on Complex Networks
Many models of market dynamics make use of the idea of conservative wealth exchanges among economic agents. A few years ago an exchange model using extremal dynamics was developed and a very interesting result was obtained: a self-generated minimum wealth or poverty line. On the other hand, the wealth distribution exhibited an exponential shape as a function of the square of the wealth. These r...

In this research, non-linear inflationary dynamics based on the concept of missing money is studied using the threshold autoregressive models based on seasonal data of the time interval (1990:04-2016:07) for the economy of Iran. The finding of the research shows that simple and Divisia liquidity growth variables are determined as threshold variables, and inflation reacts to changes in the growt...
متن کاملThe Question of Relaxation in the Wealth Exchange Models
We look at the meaning of ’relaxation’ in the wealth exchange models that are recently proposed in Econophysics to interpret the wealth distributions. To quantify and characterise the process of relaxation, we define an appropriate quantity and evaluate that numerically for the systems of many agents. Also, it has been supported heuristically by constructing a simple differential equation. Intr...

A three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics model of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) with both gas distribution flow channels and Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) is developed. A set of conservation equation is numerically solved by developing a CFD code based on the finite volume technique and SIMPLE algorithm. In this research, some parameters like oxygen consumption, water...
